About the Park

Sequoia National Parks lies within the southern Sierra Nevada, east of the San Joaquin Valley. Known as the land of the giants, this landscape is a testament of the true nature’s size, beauty, and diversity huge mountains, rugged foothills, deep canyons, and the world’s largest trees.

Sequoia National Park is a national park in the southern Sierra Nevada east of Visali, California, in the United States. It was established on September 25, 1890. The park spans 404,064 acres. Encompassing a vertical relief of nearly 13,000 feet the park contains among its natural resources the highest point in the contiguous 48 United States, Mount Whitney, at 14,505 feet (4,421 m) above sea level. The park is south of and contiguous with Kings Canyon National Park; the two are administered by the National Park Service together as the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Camping

In the park include three in the foothills area: Potwisha (42 sites), Buckeye Flat (28 sites), and South Fork (10 sites). Four campgrounds are at higher, conifer-dominated elevations, ranging from 6,650 to 7,500 feet (2,000 to 2,300 m): Atwell Mill (21 sites), Cold Springs (40 sites), Lodgepole (214 sites), and Dorst Creek (204 sites).

2. John Muir Lodge Open: All Year For reservations contact: Delaware North Parks & Resorts online reservations Reservations: (877) 436-9615 The John Muir Lodge is located in the Grant Grove area of Kings Canyon National Park. The lodge offers 36 hotel rooms and a restaurant. The lodge is ½ mile (.8km) from a sequoia grove, visitor center, market, restaurant, gift shop and post office. Elevation 6,500 feet (1,980 m).

3. Cedar Glove Lodge Open: Seasonal For reservations contact: Delaware North Parks & Resorts online reservations Reservations: (877) 436-9615 Cedar Grove Lodge is located within Cedar Grove Village, deep in the canyon of the Kings Canyon itself. The lodge offers 21 hotel rooms, a counter-service restaurant, market and gift shop. The lodge is also within walking distance of a visitor center, restaurant, gift shop and market. Elevation 4,600 feet (1,402 m).

Park is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year $20 Vehicle pass, valid 1 through 7 days. Free during major holidays.
